The Spirit or Kermode Bear is a subspecies of the Black Bear. A somewhat mystical creature, this bear is found in the north coast regions of British Columbia roaming the great rain forests. Cherished amongst those who love our natural environment, for many the Spirit Bear symbolizes the need to protect and preserve our beautiful wilderness. In painting this image, Barb imagined this bear wandering out of the forest hoping to find a meal amongst the rocks, pondering its next move.
